In the midst of his term, the elected president Joko Widodo, who is changing his cabinet, nominated Gatot Nurmantyo as the Commander of the 16th Indonesian National Army (TNI) to replace General Moeldoko who will retire from his army at that time.
On July 8, 2015, President Jokowi inaugurated General Gatot Nurmantyo as TNI Commander. The highest achievement of this soldier as the best achievement of Gatot. "I will always uphold the oath of soldiers," said Gatot Nurmantyo in his oath of office at the inauguration at the State Palace.
